Krust "Coded Language" Album Review

Good, but nothing stellar.
So I picked up "Coded Language." Krust played/s an importnat role in the D&B world and Yuval Gabay (Soul Coughing) is playing drums, so it's gotta be pretty good, right? Well... after a good number of listens now.. I think I can make a fair judgement. Gabay does do a great job with the drums here, amazing stuff and Krust does an adept job of mixing everything together. What ruined it for me, however, is Morgan's vocals. Not only do they not fit well with the music, but they are lyrically contrived and boring, and quite frankly just plain bad. I must admit, they work well on "Re-arrange" but "Soldiers", I mean, does any one else think this is just a horrible piece of music? The lyrics are insipid and they do not fit whatsoever with the music. For some good stuff, check out the tracks without Morgan on them, especially the last two tracks, which are quite quite good and almost redeem the album. Over all, a slightly less than solid release, but it's listenable. I suppose Morgan's voice is one of those Love-it or Hate-it kinds, so I suggest utilizing the handy [samples] and see for yourself. If you dig the druming, Yuval is starting what should prove to be a wonderful LIVE D&B band called "Uv Ray" (A clever deconstruction of his name). They are recording/touring as of this writing. Check them out if you get a chance...
